01/21/2007 - Pittsburgh, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Dominic James drained a pair of free throws with .9 seconds remaining in overtime to give the 24th-ranked Marquette Golden Eagles a 77-74 win over the No. 6 Pittsburgh Panthers at the Peterson Events Center.
James finished with 23 points and dished out five assists while Dan Fitzgerald and Wesley Matthews each scored 14 for the Golden Eagles (17-4, 4-2 Big East), who have won four straight games. Ousmane Barro had 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots in the win.
Ronald Ramon poured in 21 points and Aaron Gray donated 16 points and grabbed nine boards for Pittsburgh (17-3, 5-1), who had a seven-game winning streak snapped.
Antonio Graves netted 12 and Mike Cook ended with 11 in the setback, Pittsburgh's first at home since losing to Seton Hall on March 3, 2006. Pitt has lost only seven times at home in the last five seasons.
Two consecutive Fitzgerald treys pushed the margin to 60-51 with almost four minutes to play, but the Panthers closed the second half with a 13-4 burst, ending with a pair of Ramon free throws with three ticks on the clock.
With eight seconds remaining Graves hit 1-of-2 from the line and Keith Benjamin grabbed the offensive rebound. James then fouled Ramon as he had one foot on the arc.
Gray's free throw gave Pittsburgh a 65-64 lead, its first since 10-9.
Ramon's three put the Panthers ahead 72-69 with 2:48 on the clock, but four straight free throws from Matthews gave Marquette a slim 73-72 advantage with under two minutes to play.
Levon Kendall sank two from the charity stripe to regain a one-point margin with 1:35 left in the extra session, but James drove into the paint with the clock ticking down before he was fouled by Kendall with .9 ticks left.
Gray's layup gave Pitt a 10-7 lead, but the Golden Eagles responded with a 17-5 burst, including 11 points from James, for a 24-15 lead.
Trailing 29-20, the Panthers tallied seven of the final 10 points of the half, highlighted by Ramon's trey, narrowing the gap to 32-27.
James led all scorers after the opening 20 minutes with 14 points.
Leading 40-37, Marquette scored eight straight, including Jerel McNeal's three-pointer, extending the lead to 48-37.
Pitt countered with a 13-2 rally, capped by a pair of Graves free throws, cutting the deficit to 50-49.

MySportsbook.com and Kentucky Derby Offer Bonuses
The 2008 Kentucky Derby has announced a $1-million bonus for this weekend’s 134th ‘Run for the Roses’ and MySportsbook.com is doing the same.
Well, not quite $1 million, but MySportsbook.com is offering a 75% rebate for Kentucky Derby lines. Check out the exclusive horse racing bonus for all the details.
According to MySportsbook.com, the favorites for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky are: Curlin (+250); Street Sense (+500); Scat Daddy (+700); Circular Quay (+750); and Nobiz Like Shobiz (+800).
Derby organizers announced this week that there will be a $1-million bonus at the 2007 Kentucky Derby odds if the first-place horse wins by more than 6 1/2 lengths – the margin of Barbaro's victory last year. The bonus would be divided Saturday among the winning trainer, jockey, owner and a charity, with each receiving 25 percent. The designated charity is the Barbaro Memorial Fund.
''It's certainly creative, it's certainly fun and it has something for the horsemen, which we always want to embrace,'' Churchill Downs president and chief executive Robert Evans said at a news conference. ''What's really cool is it will force us to remember Barbaro.''
Meanwhile, the Derby favorite – Curlin – is going against the odds this year. It's been 125 years since Apollo won after skipping his 2-year-old season, and not since Regret in 1915 has such a lightly seasoned horse worn the blanket of red roses.
Arkansas Derby winner Curlin – unbeaten in three career races – tries to overcome both those obstacles in Saturday's 133rd Derby.
''We're not running against history,'' trainer Steve Asmussen said Monday. ''We're running against who they load up.''
Six other horses have run in the Derby without benefit of 2-year-old races and with three or fewer starts. The best any of them managed was a sixth-place finish by Showing Up last year.
Asmussen dismissed suggestions that Curlin's lack of racing experience could keep him from the winner's circle.
”He exudes confidence and he's got a great presence about him,'' the trainer said. ''I feel great about the position we're in. He's not worried about anything, why should you be?''
The Kentucky Derby is at 4:04 p.m., ET Saturday.

LaDainian Tomlinson Favorite to be 2007 NFL MVP
With the first NFL preseason game less than two weeks away, it is time to start thinking about football once again at MySportsbook.com. Reigning NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson is currently the 5-1 co-favorite to win the award again alongside Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning.
This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone after his all out assault on the record books last season. For those suffering from amnesia or were under a rock last football season, all L.T. did last season was set the NFL record for rushing touchdowns (28), total touchdowns (31) and total points scored (186) to go along with his 1815 rushing yards and 508 receiving yards. At 6-1, Tom Brady is next in line which isn’t surprising considering all of the firepower the Pats added over the off-season. With the addition of Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth and Wes Welker; it would be quite difficult for Brady’s numbers not to improve from last years 3529 yards and 24 touchdowns. There appears to be some decent value in Drew Bees at 10-1 considering he probably would have won the award last year if it wasn’t for L.T.’s record breaking season.
There is no reason to think the Saints will come back to earth this season and playing in a weak NFC, they should have as good a shot as any to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. At 15-1, Donovan McNabb could also be worth a look. Remember, many felt he was the MVP of the first half of the season before going down with a season ending injury. Reportedly, he is in great shape and well ahead of schedule to return to form. Also, he could have some added motivation to put up big numbers this season with the Eagles using their first pick in the draft on McNabb’s future successor Kevin Kolb.
